Chunghwa Telecom, China Telecom Reportedly to Form Alliance in China

Taiwanese telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom recently has signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Chinese telecom operator China Telecom, the Xinhua News Agency reported on September 22, citing Taiwan's Commercial Times. Under terms of MoU, these two operators will collaborate in the development of ICT and IENet (Intelligent Environment Service Network) in China and will begin their first cooperation project in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province in east China. It is reported that these two operators plan to establish a JV in future, to be jointly owned by Chunghwa Telecom, China Telecom's wholly owned subsidiary, namely China Telecom System Integration, and IENet companies from China and Taiwan, according to the same source. Chunghwa Telecom confirmed its cooperation in IENet and ICT with Chinese Telecom but declined to comment on the JV.
